employer engagement and higher level skills strategy group

EMUA's Employer Engagement & Skills (EES) Group is used by our members to co-ordinate the region's HEI response to government policies and proposals relating to higher education and employer engagement for learning and teaching. The EES Group is an important forum for our members to engage, not only with each other, but with partners such as emda, fDf and HEFCE around our strategies for employer engagement for higher level learning. Originally born out of the Leitch Report, the EES Group provides a forum where EMUA members can co-ordinate their activities in line with the framework Developing a Regional Action Plan for Higher Level Skills (originated by EMUA and endorsed by all regional partners in the Employment, Skills & Productivity Partnership) and more recently address BIS's new national framework for HE, Higher Ambitions and their newly published strategy Skills for Growth.

Important EES initiatives have included a collaboration with CFE Ltd to research the market for higher level skills in the East Midlands ( Using Demand to Shape Supply)and with emda to develop the region's Beyond Brokerage Higher Level Skills Advisory Service, which provides in depth advice to businesses about accessing flexible and responsive curriculum to up skill their employees.

The EES Group is Chaired by Jackie Dunne (Director of Lifelong Learning Institute, University of Leicester) who is EMUA's representative on the esp Executive.

Some useful links to information relevant to the EES Group activity are given below.
