HE in the region

Higher Education plays a vital role in our regional wellbeing. EMUA works closely with emda and other regional organisations to ensure that the aims of our HEIs, and those of the East Midlands as a whole, remain closely aligned.

Our HEIs attract large numbers of students to the region as well as skilled professinals and world-renowned academics. They contribute around 4% to regional GDP and conduct internationally important research. They encourage innovation, inspire ambition and provide support to businesses and organisations of all shapes and sizes. They also provide a wealth of social and cultural experience for both their incoming students and their surrounding local communities.
